LUCY
(Walks onto train and goes to take a seat next to James) Is this seat free?
JAMES
(Pulls earphones out) Sorry what did you say?
LUCY
I was wondering if this seat is free? (Points to the seat next to James)
JAMES
Well yes, but there’s two free ones just down there
LUCY
Oh, my mistake I’ll go over there then (Lucy goes and takes a seat further down the carriage)
JAMES
(James looks up from his phone and looks at Lucy to see that she is unhappy, and begins to pull a face of guilt. He gets up and walks down to her seat)
I’m sorry for being so rude a minute ago, are you okay?
LUCY
(Looks up from looking at her locket in confusion at James) I’m fine thank you. Why have you come over here?
JAMES
I just wanted to make sure you were okay? Can I sit here or should I leave you to get on with your journey?
LUCY
No, you can sit here if you really want to, I don’t mind
JAMES
Okay (both continue with their previous activities e.g. James listening to music and Lucy reading)
JAMES
Where are you off to then?
LUCY
Just going to work, you?
JAMES
Oh I have an interview at Morgan and Stanley. Do you know how to get there by any chance? As I’m not from around here
LUCY
Erm, I think if you get off of the train at Seven Sisters, then walk straight out of the station you should be there
JAMES
Ah it’s that easy is it?
LUCY
Yeah its pretty easy, oh this is my stop yours is next
JAMES
It was nice to meet you
LUCY
You too (Lucy stands up and exits the train, but on her way drops her locket/bracelet on the floor)
JAMES
Wait! I didn’t catch your name
LUCY
(Turns around over her shoulder to shout it amongst the crowd of people)
It’s Lucy
JAMES
(James spots the locket and as she walks into the distance attempts to get off the train and chase after her, but it’s too late, she has gone)
LUCY (VOICEOVER)
(As she is walking, tracking)
He came and sat next to me and asked how I was, yet I couldn’t build up to courage to tell him what was wrong so I just said I was fine. After all, he was a stranger.. a really lovely stranger.
JAMES (VOICEOVER)
(Sat on train, filmed by someone on another seat)
I never knew why she looked unhappy, and she never told me why. But I still managed to get her name before she disappeared off to wherever she was going..Lucy..her name was Lucy.
(James gets up to depart the train, however pauses as he spots a locket/bracelet on the floor, and realises it’s Lucy’s. shot of James looking at locket but voice from next scene over the top)
JAMES
(At the station goes to lost and found to ask if they can look out for Lucy, the girl featured in the locket with another lady.)
Hello, I have just found this locket that I think was dropped by a lady I just met on the train named Lucy, (opens locket to show person) She looks like this
LOST AND FOUND PERSON
There’s not much we can do about it, we don’t have our passenger’s details
JAMES
Oh please can you at least look out for her? I need to find her and return it
Below, is our final script. Re-writing a new script was necessary due to the fact that we firstly changed our location and the idea of it being on a train to a platform instead. Secondly, after watching our first draft we realised that the speech between the two characters did not flow very naturally. Although this may be an issue with our casting, we felt the script was slightly to harsh for the outcome of romance we wanted the film to achieve. As a result, the script now includes more common speech, with lines that are much shorter so that the characters are able to fit in a conversation within the couple of minutes we are allowed to produce this film at. However, we anticipate that during filming, our script may be changed on the day, to fit the actor’s moods and how they feel it should sound. For the final script we used less speech, and decided that body language should tell the story aswell as dialogue.
